May wrap-up & June TBR

May has been a busy month for me – I had my exams, found out my results (I passed!) and went on a plane for the first time! I went abroad for the second time in my life and saw the beautiful Lanzarote with some uni friends and of course the highly anticipated ACOWAR came out which I devoured in two days (and cried at a book for the first time). It has been a crazy month, thankfully full of ups and good news and not to mention some brilliant books!

Books I read in May:

So the wonderful ACOWAR came out and I absolutely LOVED that book! I couldn’t stop reading and read it in two days, crying on the last page purely because of the terrible sense of loss, of something ending that I didn’t want to end. It was amazing and I loved it, but I still think ACOMAF is my favourite. I got the beautiful colour map of Prythian as well which I’ve stuck on my wall ๐Ÿ™‚

I loved rereading ACOTAR and ACOMAF but it’s never quite the same as when you read a book for the first time! It’s interesting picking up on little things you may have missed or get mentioned later on.

Given To the Sea was the book included in the April Fairyloot box and I started it on holiday but only just finished it a few days ago. I have to say it’s not a favourite of mine and I didn’t really enjoy it that much, however Everything, Everything was so good and just what I needed!

My TBR for June will include some more contemporaries I think, like Wing Jones and Summer Days and Summer Nights (a collection of twelve summery short stories). I need to finish off my ACOWAR reread and possibly read the Fantastic Beasts screenplay. Hope you all had a brilliant month and June is even better for you!

April wrap-up & May TBR

My exams start tomorrow so this month has been a bit slow on the reading due to revision, but I managed to read five books! One was a poetry and the other a book of quotes so they were very quick reads. I also got to meet Laini Taylor this month and read her brilliant book, Strange the Dreamer. Plus, I got the fabulous April Fairyloot box so even though it’s been a busy month, I’ve had some good bookish treats to get me through!

Books I read in April:

My favourites were Strange the Dreamer because the writing was just outstanding and I loved the characters, plus the story was amazing!!! I also really enjoyed reading the Beauty and the Beast Book of the Film after I had watched it and was still hung up on the brilliance of that live action film. Belle’s Library was a really cute collection of quotes and the illustrations were so adorable, whereas I found the Lost In a Book just slightly less interesting and I found Belle and the Beast to be written differently compared to their characters in the film.ย Love, and you was a really heart-rending collection of poems but personally, I didn’t connect to it much purely because the book was entirely on relationships so it was my least favourite. I recommend all of these books though if you want to experience some awesome writing!

I’m currently rereading ACOTAR in preparation for the release of ACOWAR tomorrow!!!! Unfortunately I have exams so I’ll have to wait till next week to get round to reading it. This month I also want to finally get round to some books that have been sat on my TBR shelf for a while; I need to finish off City of Ashes and maybe read the book that was in the April Fairyloot box!

Have a great month reading everyone! Let me know what you thought of any of these books if you read them.

March wrap-up & April TBR

March has been a brilliant month because Beauty and the Beast came out (seen it twice now and it’s definitely one of my top 10 films ever) which was amazing and I loved it so much and I read a total of eight books!ย The Song Rising came out this month and I went to the launch party in London as well as making some more beautiful book purchases.

Books I read in March:

My favourite book was definitely The Song Rising – I had such a good time at the launch event and I devoured that book in two days! I also loved reading the little novellas to continue staying in that world ๐Ÿ™‚ I finally got round to starting the Mortal Instruments series and I plan to read more throughout April. I alsoย finallyย got round to rereading The Wrath and the Dawn so I could, at last, read the sequel! My least favourite book was probablyย Inkย but I still found it an interesting read but I enjoyed every single book I read this month.

I’ve just started Beauty and the Beast Book of the Film and I’m loving it! It is basically a book version of the film with description and added speech – I absolutely love that film so this is a perfect read for me right now. When I’ve finished I want to read Strange the Dreamerย which sounds amazing but I’ve also got a few more books arriving in the post so we’ll see what happens!

February wrap-up

Considering uni is pretty full on at the moment (just started anaesthesia) I actually managed to do pretty well with reading and read 5 books! I also found the time to do a bit more work on my blog and I’m trying to keep up to date with writing reviews – I love sharing my views of books and discussing books with other bookworms!

Here are the books I read in February:

My favourite book this month was A Conjuring of Light because I absolutely adore this series and it was SO SAD to see it finished!!! I also really loved Caraval though because it was full of magic and so many PLOT TWISTS it was definitely an amazing read. A Quiet Kind of Thunder was a sweet contemporary read to break up the fantasy roll I’m on and it was so cute I loved the story. Crooked Kingdom was another brilliant end to a series and I preferred it to Six of Crows but that ending!

The only book I didn’t really enjoy was Three Dark Crowns – the writing just didn’t grab me and I didn’t see where the story was going so it felt more of a chore to get through.

March TBR

It’s coming up to exams soon so I’ll probably have to ease off on the reading soon but I definitely want to read The Mime Order next in time for the launch of The Song Rising which I’m going to in London! I have a couple of stand alones I might read or continue on with some other series too like The Invasion of the Tearling. There are still so many series I want to start but I need to finish off a few first! Oh and I bought the Fairyloot March special anniversary edition book box so I’ll probably read whatever book is in that too! (And I have a good idea what it is!)

January wrap-up & February TBR

I had a surprisingly good month for reading in January! A good start to the reading year. I’m back at uni and finding it difficult to balance lectures/practicals and social life as well as keeping myself healthy both mentally and physically. That’s why I like to try and read a bit everyday because it gives me satisfaction seeing me progress through a book and I love posting about books and sharing my reviews of them!

So here are the seven books I read in January:

February TBR

I plan to read Crooked Kingdom next to finish off the Six of Crows duology and mix it up with a bit of contemporary and read A Quiet Kind of Thunder. I may start a new series and finally get round to starting the Shadowhunter series and read City of Bones, but I have a couple of stand alones I could read depending on how February goes work wise. A Conjuring of Light will DEFINITELY be on my February TBR as I’ll be buying that as soon as it comes out and reading it straight away. I also just received Caraval in my Fairyloot box (see my unboxing here) and I am so excited to start that!!

November TBR

Since October went pretty badly reading wise I plan to step up my game for November and I’ve already read one book so I think this will be a better month for me! I’m also going to start posting on Saturdays as well as Wednesdays because I find myself with a lot of reviews building up and other posts that really need to be posted asap!

November TBR:

  • … And A Happy New Year?

  • Neverwhere

  • Red Queen reread

So I’m going to start Neverwhere first since it’s the book chosen for my uni’s book club that I’ve started up again this year and I’ve already read …And A Happy New Year (review to come soon) which was amazing! I also want to reread Red Queen to familiarise myself with the world so I can FINALLY get round to reading Glass Sword!

October TBR

So since I really didn’t read much in September (being back at uni), I’m going to be less ambitious with my TBRs while I’m at uni! I’m thinking about a book a week maybe? I hope I can manage to balance my uni work and my reading – check out my post on uni and reading.

October TBR:

  • Ivory and Bone
Image result for ivory and bone book
  • And I Darken

  • Vassa In The Night

It’s already 7th October but I am determined to get Ivory and Bone done soon so I can get on to And I Darken where I’m doing a buddy read with @haraiaheve and then I’m doing another withย @book_roastย for Vassa In The Night! The books this month I’ve chosen to read seem to have awesome covers – which is your favourite? I love Ivory and Bone!

Here’s to a good month spent reading!
